Greater Kansas City Fact Sheet on Homelessness

Welcome to our Kim Wilson Housing library. This library collection contains research studies, reports and books related to housing vulnerable populations. Come back often as we update the collection on a regular basis.

Biannual count shows homelessness has decreased in Greater Kansas City between 2009-2015.

HUD requires communities that apply for its Continuums of Care funding to conduct an annual count of homeless persons who are sheltered in emergency shelters, transitional housing and Safe Havens on a single designated night. These are called “Point-In-Time” (PIT) counts. Continuums of Care communities also must conduct a count of unsheltered homeless persons every other year.
